On Friday, May 15, tune in to ‘In This Together: A PBS American Portrait Story’. It’s a multi-platform storytelling project made from photographs, videos, and first-hand accounts of how the coronavirus pandemic has affected people’s lives and communities – and how it’s bringing us all together.  The program will air on WNED in Canada at 10:30pm.

We may not have a cure for coronavirus yet, but researchers are working around the clock to find more effective treatments every day. Here’s the latest: the FDA has approved emergency use of the USA’s first drug treatment for COVID-19. It’s called remdesivir, and while it’s only been approved for the most severe cases, early studies have shown promising results. That’s definitely something to be hopeful about!

Have you ever video called an eel? Now’s the time to change that. The Sumida Aquarium in Japan is urging people to FaceTime their eels to remind them that humans exist and don’t pose a threat while the aquarium is closed to visitors. Check out the link for information on how to call (and for some stunning photographs of life in the aquarium!)

Here’s something exciting for young drama enthusiasts: Disney Theatrical Productions has made their Lion King themed curriculum free during the pandemic. It’s a virtual theatre education program designed to introduce children and teens to the world of theatre using ‘The Lion King on Broadway’. Check out the website for lesson plans, videos, activities, and more!

See you tomorrow!
